A reset you can run into
This morning’s parkrun wasn’t about pace or distance. It was about regulation.
Movement does something powerful for the nervous system. It helps release stress hormones, restores rhythm to the breath, and creates space for clearer thinking. Long before insight arrives, the body often finds stability first.
In therapeutic work, we speak a great deal about emotional regulation. But sometimes the most effective starting point isn’t a conversation, it’s motion.
One step. Then another.
A steadier body.
A quieter mind.
If emotions feel overwhelming, gentle movement can be a practical place to begin: walking, running, stretching, or even dancing.
Regulation doesn’t always start with words.
Sometimes, it starts with forward motion.
