Counselling Psychologist

Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” – Brené Brown

I’m a psychologist dedicated to helping you navigate pain, reclaim resilience, and uncover the extraordinary strength that lies within you. My path began in university settings, where I offered lay counselling, moved into trauma debriefing at the Netcare Union Hospital in Alberton, and provided telephonic counselling with the South African Depression & Anxiety Group. These experiences laid the foundation for my clinical work during my Master’s training at the University of the Witwatersrand, where I also completed an internship at the Counselling & Careers Development Unit.

Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of trauma, mood and personality disorders, substance use challenges, grief, and a broad spectrum of relational, adjustment, and academic struggles. I also bring extensive expertise in psychometric assessments, with a particular passion for career assessments. My work is strongly rooted in community psychology, and I’m committed to delivering preventive, trauma-informed interventions that promote well-being at the community level.

Therapeutic philosophy and approach

  • Empowering and strengths-based: I believe in highlighting your strengths and supporting you through growth areas, so you can move from pain toward possibility.
  • Integrative and collaborative: My style blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to fit your unique needs.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental: I work with warmth, empathy, and respect, creating a safe space to explore difficult emotions and experiences.
  • Trauma-informed and prevention-oriented: I focus on strategies that promote safety, resilience, and long-term well-being, both in the moment and for the future.
